Dr. Joost Berkers graduated magna cum laude as a doctor from KU Leuven in 2009.
He subsequently combined his training as a medical specialist urologist with research at KU Leuven into predictive genetic markers for therapy response of renal cell carcinomas. He completed his training as a urologist at UZ Leuven and AZ Groeninge Kortrijk with a specific interest in minimally invasive surgery.
In 2017 he graduated as a urologist and Fellow of European Board of Urology. In 2018 he was recruited by the Hageland Urology Association (RZ Tienen- MC Aarschot- AZ Diest- Life Expert Center- Jodoigne) as a general urologist with a specific interest in robotic surgery. As part of his robotic surgical training, he was a fellow at the urological service of UZ-Leuven from 2018 to 2019. He is head of the robotics surgery department RZ Tienen since 2021 peforming over 150 robotic assisted uro-oncological procedures per year.
Dr. In addition to general urology and robotic surgery, Joost Berkers also has specific expertise in the field of preventive cancer screening (including prostate cancer and bladder cancer), surgical and medical treatment of urological tumors and urogenital pain complaints.
