Dr. Sara Engels
Speaks fluently in: Dutch, French and English.
Dr. Sara Engels graduated with high distinction in 2011 as a medical doctor from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. During internships in the Philippines and Ethiopia/Djibouti, she discovered her passion for gynecology, the field in which she later specialized.

Today, she serves as Deputy Head of Clinic at UVC Brugmann in Laken. Her focus lies primarily on gynecological surgery — both laparoscopic and vaginal techniques — and the treatment of pelvic floor disorders.

Driven by her personal passion for long-distance running and cycling, Dr. Engels developed a strong interest in sports gynecology. To deepen her expertise, she began an additional university program in Sports Medicine in 2022. Sports gynecology addresses the specific needs of active women and female athletes, with attention to the impact of the menstrual cycle and hormonal changes on performance and health.

As a sports gynecologist, she advises the athletes of Team Belgium and the Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee (BOIC). Her experience shows that the needs of female athletes are still too often overlooked. With her expertise, she aims to make a real difference in this area.
In addition to her work in sports medicine, Dr. Engels has a special focus on menopause. This phase of life presents unique challenges, in which lifestyle plays a crucial role in well-being and health. From this perspective, she guides women with personalized guidance, always aiming for a healthy balance between body, energy, and quality of life.
